Here's a good example of a bed running lengthwise beside storage cupboards in a Sprinter van conversion. The owners have bench surfaces on both sides (with the sink on the door side) and still managed to accommodate bench seats with a slide-out table/desk. Great use of a 170" wheelbase Sprinter.

Underbed storage plus 12" deep, tip-up overhead cabinets with hydraulic hinges, and kitchen unit storage (19" deep). All cabinets built with 5/8 or 3/4 inch plywood. We liked the raw look of the plywood so we did 3 coats of clear polyurethane.

We built a sliding drawer on casters with a large hole cut in the bottom for ventilation. On the right hand side of the cabinet we also have a vent placed exactly where the fridge motor is for additional ventilation.

Table slides out from under the bed with hardwood dowel as support leg when required. Table can also work as a ledge between platforms to create a second bed.

House battery

40A charge controller, 2000W inverter, 12V fuse panel, and breaker box for incoming solar and battery so if need be we can shut the whole system down.

It's done! We decided to go with the Deluxe Maxxfan it works in the rain and can go down to a low profile which seems like a good option
